This cardinal was perched in our backyard in a pear tree. I wanted to alter the time of day and give a glistening contrast with complimentary colors. So a night time moon lite image background offers that effect. This alteration truly gives a regal touch to our cardinal friend.
The little bait shack on Mackerel cove. This painting will need the bouys added, but nearing completion! Have had a lot of fun doing this one, but the reflection was the most complex.
Here is a new oil painting that I did today. I tried using an impressionistic quality to create a feeling of color and light. The process was rather quick and easy. This painting is from a photo I took in Maine. The combination of lupine was the intrigue for taking the photo with the light cascading down the hill.
"The Nubble" in Mackerel Cove in Maine is a little bait shack where all the local lobstermen leave their bouys. I have nearly completed this composition as an oil painting. I took the liberty to heightened the reflections and add warmer tones and hues in the water. I hope to have it completed by next week. If you look closely you will notice a heart painted on the doorway. This to me typifies the uniqueness of this area with its hidden charms.
