This painting was started and then put aside two years ago. However, today I has an opportunity to try a glazing technique to add luster and life with a vibrant flair. I am thrilled to frame this one soon!

MOONSTONE BEACH 18 x 24 oil on canvas

]]><![CDATA[November 10th, 2021]]>Thu, 11 Nov 2021 03:48:09 GMThttps://www.timelessartist.com/karens-corner/november-10th-2021Painting water can be challenging. However, if you examine closely you will see overlapping transparent colors. At times, it can be a kalidescope of color. The rich blue and soft lavender hues in the sky complemented the water view. It was a simple quick painting study applied for a class I taught. I had mixed the colors and had not had a chance to.paint the piece until after I had instructed the lesson. This will be a piece I will be selling in January.

14 x 14 oil painting on canvas.

This spot was along a backroad deep in the heart of Maine. It was an overcast day with a penetrating dampness in the air. The pond had little reflection, but the colors popped above the embankment from the vivid array of trees. This painting emphasized using complement colors which was a great reference to teach from.
