Here are the results of a painting class just held today. Each painting was unique and individual. A wide variety of brushes were used to create a range of effects for each phase of the painting. Using a liner brush to give an airy and feathery quality to each brush stoke was a big hit in terms of helping to create a realistic image of a hummingbird. You can tell that they were all pleased to create their own artwork in a matter of a few hours!
Due to increase demand, I am painting two new paintings - one is named : Time of Reflection and the other is Arbor of Happiness. For your convenience, both pictures are on the oil gallery page for you to view. Although I paint realistically, I add a personal and whimsical touch to each. Several of the other paintings have already sold, but prints will soon be available. I will shortly be posting more information regarding prints on canvas along with a photo presentation so you truly get the effect of what each canvas print will look like.
Phase 2- The background was completed and then I added the trees and snow. After this dries, I will be adding further highlights and redefining the trees in the foreground some more. The colors are so soothing with this painting. It gives a sense of standing right there on Hogback mountain breathing in that cool clean air.
There are several paintings underway at various stages. I will post mine tomorrow. I am still working on the mountain sky-scape overlooking Hogback Mountain in Vermont. Being surrounded by fellow artists is an inspiration and a great way to get feedback and insight as we paint along!
There is often a quiet anticipation as the painting unfolds its own story. Sometimes the unexpected happens. This very thing just occurred on a recent commissioned seascape. To my delight, when I added three sailboats to the horizon, there was instant balance restored to the painting. Somehow that little wooden boat was no longer so forlorn -- just steadfast on shore.
The other day our instuctor presented this beauty for us to admire.Even in small spaces of a studio, beauty and inspiration abounds. In looking ahead,I know more wonder will be sent your way for 2012~
